Building the next chapter of Honey Homes
Today, we’re announcing we’ve raised $9.25 million in a Series A-1, led by Era Ventures, with participation from Khosla Ventures and Pear. With this new funding, we’re going to further elevate the magic of Honey Homes for our existing members and bring our vision of caring for your home to additional cities.
We founded Honey Homes in 2021 after many poor experiences improving and maintaining our own homes. We were tired of the time spent on it, unreliable vendors, long waits, poor quality, and even stolen deposits for work never completed. We felt helpless in the face of the long list of preventive home maintenance items, many of which we didn’t even know we should do. Fast forward to today, we’ve built what we and other homeowners have craved - a dedicated, reliable partner for all of your home’s needs.
Honey Homes members get access to two monthly visits from a dedicated handyperson for home improvement, fixes, and ongoing maintenance. The Honey Homes app lets members manage their to-do list, book handyperson visits with specific start times (not vague multi-hour windows), and message our expert team anytime with questions or feedback. For more specialized jobs, we refer members to trusted, high-quality partners.
We continue to offer one of the best career paths in the home services industry. Our skilled and friendly handypeople are full-time W-2 employees with guaranteed hours, benefits, and paid time off. Their days include creative problem solving alongside hands-on technical work. Each handyman grows their technical and customer service skills through ongoing training and mentorship.
A startup is a learning machine. Since we announced our Series A in 2023, we’ve learned a lot. We knew that members care deeply about their homes, and are grateful that homeowners trust us as their partner. As we’ve grown, we’ve learned how to better provide exceptional customer service to members with the highest standards, and how to efficiently run an operationally-intensive business. Importantly, as a technology company, we’ve unlocked how to use our products to improve outcomes for our members, handypeople, and our internal teams.
The results speak for themselves. We’re proud to have over 1,000 members across the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Dallas. Our handyperson team has now completed over 60,000 home tasks through more than 30,000 visits.
These insights spurred us to raise additional capital, allowing us to more quickly build Honey Homes into a long-term sustainable business. We are delighted to partner with Clelia Peters of Era Ventures, who brings experience in our industry and a clear understanding of our target customer. We’re also grateful for the continued support from our existing investors Khosla Ventures and Pear.
